First Stop: Carmacks, Yukon Territory

So, we're on Day 5 of the 2010 Yukon River Expedition, and our first major stop is here in Carmacks in the beautiful Yukon Territory. The expedition has been quite the adventure already. We've seen lots of wildlife, including a cow moose giving birth to its calves on the bank of the river. We've also encountered many beavers and bald eagles. We've also done some successful fly fishing and caught several Arctic Grayling, which made for quite the tasty lunch of fish tacos on the banks of the river! The Teslin River was a slow moving river, but now that we've merged onto the Yukon, we're averaging about sixty exciting miles a day. Tomorrow we will be continuing on to our next major stop, Dawson City. We expect to arrive on June 15 or 16, where we will be spending a few days resupplying and then heading out to backpack in the Tombstone Territorial Park for three adventure filled days. Expect exciting updates coming soon!
